Thinking of Selling the Diesel 323 Before Winter

Right now I have a classic case of too many projects and not enough winter storage. I’ve thought about this long and hard (phrasing) and the best solution I can think of is to move the Euro Spec 323 Diesel. How would I even go about valuing the car? It has just under 104k miles and runs like a champ. New tires, alternator, air filter, and oil change. The only drawback is that the interior is fairly dirty. I’m going to attempt to hire someone to detail it as my shop vac wasn’t up to the task. I’m pretty sure the previous owner never cleaned it ever. Other than the unclean, there is a big hole in the vinyl dash.

What’s the best way you guys would recommend selling something fairly rare?

Put it on Ebay, with a reserve, market it on Mazda (and diesel) forums so people know the auction is out there. Add as much information and high quality pictures as possible. Also note how easy it is to get parts and how legal the car is, as both those factors are reasons people tend to shy away from imports. Use a reserve so you won’t have to sell it for less than what you minimally want.

What you need is: 1. people know it’s out there, 2. you prematurely take as many fears away from people unfamiliar with the vehicle.

Remember that rare does not equal value. I’d throw it on CL.

I miss this car. If I had a use for it I would of kept it.

umm... that sounds awesome! I desire it (but I am sans $$$).

I dunno, you might not need to do anything, this post on Oppo may be sufficient. Diesel hatchback, with odd european lineage, that might just have sold itself

I’d buy it if I had space and money. Would make a perfect winter car/ice racer!

They really are. I was at a mazda meet over the summer and parked near a USDM one and the guy just about fainted and I forgot how huge the factory bumpers were here.

I’d like to sell it to someone who wants to keep it from being exposed to the winter. That’s the problem with me keeping it lol.

It’s a 5 speed too. I’ll buy some brown paint on the way home if I have to!

Yeah, I can definitely understand that.

It’ll be tough to find that buyer. As I imagine that most people, that actually car about cars, looking for 323s are likely the type to turn them into race cars.

I mean a diesel racer would be really cool too. If I had a good interior donor (dash and headliner) I would keep it and fix it up for daily duties myself. I’m not sure how it would like the cold weather of western ny though.
